Structured Problem Solving

The need to solve problems is everywhere. Everyone must make decisions both personally and professionally. Some problems are big and complex, while others are simple and mundane. The problems vary from needing to pick a vacation location, pursuing an advanced degree, or obtaining a higher profit margin on a particular product offering. When faced with a problem, we are often paralyzed by the prospect. We feel overwhelmed because we believe that the process of solving problems is too complex and time-consuming. We get frustrated and either ignore the problem or rush to the first solution that comes to mind or the one used before.

A structured approach to problem-solving allows managers and team members to avoid the “just make it go away” tendency, which is unlikely to bring about a solution. There is a simple, proven way to look at problems. This way of thinking or mindset allows great problem solvers to look at problems in a new and creative manner. This approach isn’t a complicated computer algorithm or multi-step genius-level technique. Instead, it’s a way to simplify, demystify, and broaden one’s thinking around the challenge.

The Structured Problem Solving program is designed to give participants a structured, methodical, and reliable way to solve problems – large or small. The participants will be able to develop a proven, repeatable, and effective way to solve problems regardless of size or complexity. The company will also gain a common language for solving problems that break down the silo mentality and promote the collaborative process necessary for success.
