Finding and developing good leaders takes time and is essential to the success of any company. Yet, as employees grow within an organization, they're sometimes asked to move into supervisory or managerial roles without receiving leadership education or training. Their companies then expect them to understand how to be good leaders and develop their teams to accomplish extraordinary results. Many of these leaders struggle to distinguish the difference between managing and leading and cannot grasp the concept that people do not want to be managed; they want to be led.

Leaders that adopt a transformational leadership style will ultimately be better equipped to handle business challenges. Transformational leadership is "a theory of leadership where a leader works with teams to identify needed change, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with committed members of a group.” Leadership doesn't stem from authority or power and doesn't rely upon personality traits, attributes, or even a title.

SFG designed the Leading Forward program for companies that invest in cultivating young managers and leaders. The program introduces young managers and leaders to the basic leadership principles and imparts skills they can use immediately. Our program stems from the belief that leadership is a process of social influence that maximizes the efforts of others towards the achievement of a common goal.
